Maples and Calder has strengthened its Asian offering with the relocation of Shaun Denton from London to head the firm’s Hong Kong office.

Formerly the managing partner of Maples and Calder’s London office, Denton specialises in capital markets and structured finance work, including securitisations and derivatives.

Maples and Calder’s Hong Kong office, which primarily advises on Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands law, has 34 lawyers including 16 partners.

Earlier this month, the firm promoted trust and private wealth specialist Richard Grasby as well as investment funds lawyers James Gaden and Terence Ho to its partnership in Hong Kong.
