U.S. law firm McDermott Will & Emery has closed its office in Seoul, becoming the second international firm to do so. Its Korea managing partner, Paul J. Kim, has moved to Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton as a partner in its corporate practice in Seoul.
The closure of McDermott Will & Emery’s Seoul office comes months after Simpson Thacher & Bartlett departed from Korea.
With more than 25 years of experience, Kim advises clients on cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity, venture capital and securities transactions, restructurings and multi-jurisdictional disputes.
In 2012, Sheppard Mullin became the first foreign law firm to open a permanent office in Seoul.
