International law firm Norton Rose has promoted Matthew Escritt, a former senior associate, to partnership at its Dubai office as part of a larger round of global promotions.

Escritt, who specialises in banking and finance, is experienced in structured cross border finance including acquisition finance, real estate finance, project finance, trade and commodity finance, and export finance.

“Dubai's growing importance as a regional hub for banking and finance and as the northern gateway to Africa means that there are numerous opportunities for my particular areas of expertise,” he said.

Globally, Norton Rose announced 30 promotions to partnership positions across Europe, Asia, Australia, Canada, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. It is the first time that the firm has promoted existing employees in Canada, Latin America and Africa, with almost half of all the promotions being in new markets. Additionally, 44 percent of all promotions made in 2012 till now have been women employees.

Norton Rose said it has more than doubled the total number of promotions made in 2011 in an effort to strengthen its six key industry areas of financial institutions, energy, infrastructure, mining and commodities, transport, technology and innovation, and pharmaceuticals and life sciences. ALB
