Proskauer has hired partner David Chu from Dechert in Hong Kong to head the firm’s Asia litigation practice.

The former Asia litigation practice head at Dechert, Chu specialises in securities-related litigation, commercial litigation, and regulatory and compliance matters.

Chu has experience in handling cases related to director misfeasance and shareholder disputes, and has served as a consultant for auditors from accounting firms.

“As financial reforms increasingly gain traction, particularly in Asia, David’s expertise in guiding local and internationally-based companies through the rapidly evolving regulatory environment will be very valuable,” said Yuval Tal, the head of Proskauer’s Hong Kong office, in a statement.

“His arrival marks a significant milestone in the development of our team and capabilities as he joins recent additions to our Private Investments Funds practice, Yong Ren and Lynn Chan.”
