DLA Piper has hired arbitration lawyer Yu Jin Tay as a partner in Singapore from Shearman & Sterling, with Tay also being named co-chair of the firm's international arbitration practice.

Tay, who joins DLA Piper's Asia Pacific Litigation & Regulatory practice, previously led Shearman & Sterling’s international arbitration practice in Asia. He has practised international arbitration in Paris, London and Washington, DC and specialises in international arbitrations arising from M&A, joint venture, oil and gas, construction and general commercial disputes. He also has expertise in representing investors and governments in investment treaty arbitrations.

"Yu Jin is recognised as a top arbitration lawyer and we're delighted that he is joining our growing Asia Pacific team,” said Bob Charlton, Managing Director - Asia Pacific at DLA Piper, in a statement. “Our geographic coverage has provided an unparalleled platform for the growth of the international practice and we are one of the few firms to have a presence in key emerging markets."

Tay’s arrival takes the number of partners at DLA Piper’s Singapore office to seven.
