Magic Circle law firm Linklaters has hired financial regulatory specialist Evan Lam as a  partner in Singapore from Ashurst, where he headed that practice.

Lam advises banks, fintech companies and funds on Singapore financial regulations. In addition, he advises on derivatives regulatory reform, netting and collateral enforceability, and derivatives and structured product transactions.

Lam joined Ashurst in May 2020 from Singapore Big Four firm Allen & Gledhill in Singapore, where he spent the first 13 years of his career. His move to Linklaters means that that firm has 19 partners in Singapore, including investment funds lawyer Joel Seow, who joined from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in January last year.
