Withers KhattarWong (WKW), the Singapore office of Withers, has nabbed a three-member IP team from RHTLaw Taylor Wessing. The team is led by partner Jonathan Kok, who headed the IP and technology practice at his previous firm.

Kok is joined by senior associate Joyce Lee and patent associate Eileen Ng.

The move to WKW is something of a homecoming for Kok. He spent two years as a partner at the legacy KhattarWong until 2011, when lawyers left that firm to launch RHTLaw. Kok, who started his career at the legacy Rodyk & Davidson, was also previously a partner at the legacy Harry Elias Partnership.

Kok advises clients on the registration, protection and commercialisation of their IP and technology assets, data protection and cross-border transfer of data. In a statement, Withers KhattarWong tech team head James Shaw said the appointment was an “important step” for the firm’s strategic tech growth in Southeast Asia.

Following Kok’s appointment, Withers currently has 32 partners in its Singapore office.
