Stephenson Harwood has hired seven lawyers from Eversheds in Hong Kong, including partners King Tak Fung and Ivan Ng.

Trade finance expert Fung, a former VP at Bank of America, will look to combine with Stephenson Harwood partner Mark Reed to build the firm’s capabilities in that area, along with developing trade finance practices in Dubai and Singapore.

Ng, a commercial litigator with more than 20 years of experience, advises on contractual disputes, joint venture disputes and shareholders disputes. In addition, he has experience in insolvency, trade finance and banking litigation, and also advises on commercial fraud, anti-bribery and regulatory investigations matters. Prior to joining Eversheds, he was a partner at DLA Piper.

“We are delighted to welcome King Tak to the firm. King Tak’s depth of knowledge of all aspects of trade finance is unparalleled in Hong Kong. It gives me great pleasure to see Ivan returning to the family too after all these years. Ivan has worked alongside King Tak for over 12 years on trade finance disputes and banking litigation, with Ivan covering all contentious aspects and King Tak covering the non-contentious aspects," said Voon Keat Lai, Stephenson Harwood’s Greater China managing partner, in a statement.

The associates joining Stephenson Harwood from Eversheds include Emily Li and Stephanie Poon. Last month, the firm’s Hong Kong office added litigation partner Richard Wilmot from Watson, Farley and Williams.
