Sidley Austin has promoted securities lawyer Gerard Hekker to partnership in Singapore, as part of a total of 26 partnership promotions worldwide.

Hekker focuses on corporate finance, liability management, M&As and complex restructuring transactions. His clients have included public and private companies, financial institutions, governments and government-linked companies throughout Asia including Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Globally, the Sidley promotions span multiple disciplines, including corporate, litigation and regulatory.

“This new class of partners represents the future of our firm, and we are pleased to welcome them to the partnership,” said Charles W. Douglas, chair of the firm’s management committee. “We applaud their dedication and commitment.”

Hekker’s promotion takes the number of partners at Sidley’s Singapore office to five.
