British law firm Simmons & Simmons has promoted Philip Norman to partnership at its Doha office as part of a series of promotions worldwide.

Norman, who was a former associate at the firm, specialises in international dispute resolution and construction law. He has advised on energy and infrastructure development, and his work includes both contentious and non-contentious matters.

“Philip’s promotion illustrates the importance of the dispute resolution practice to our Middle East operations, and reinforces its Tier One ranking in Qatar. It also emphasises how committed Simmons & Simmons is to Qatar, and (that) we anticipate continued growth in our Doha office over the coming years,” said Andrew Wingfield, regional head of Simmons & Simmons’ Middle East offices.

Norman is admitted to the Qatar Bar, and is also an advocate in the DIFC Courts.

Simmons & Simmons’ move to beef up its Qatar office comes despite the firm having suffered a setback in its UAE offices in January, when it cut down on its lawyer and support staff numbers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. ALB
