International law firm SNR Denton has promoted its Abu Dhabi-based partner Stuart Cavet to the role of managing partner of its Kuwait office, as it seeks to bolster its presence in the Kuwaiti market.

Cavet, who joined the firm in 2010 from Simmons & Simmons, is experienced in corporate and energy-related transactions.

“Kuwait is a key market within our Middle East network and for a number of our global sector focuses, including energy and TMT,” said Matthew Jones, chief executive of Europe, Middle East and Africa at SNR Denton. “Recent high-profile mandates, including the Az Zour Independent Water and Power Project and the Kuwaiti Broadband PPP Project, are evidence of our existing successful platform in Kuwait and reflect the scope and quality of services that we are able to offer clients.”

SNR Denton has also recently won several major instructions including acting as the local adviser to GDF Suez on its Az Zour Independent Water and Power Project in association with local Kuwaiti firm International Legal Group. Additionally, the firm is advising the Kuwaiti government's Partnerships Technical Bureau and Ministry of Communications on their plans to upgrade the national fixed line telephone system to an all-fibre superfast broadband network.

SNR Denton opened an office in Kuwait City in 2008, in association with International Legal Group.

The firm’s former managing partner David Pfeiffer stepped down from his position left in October, and has recently joined as partner at law firm Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle. ALB
