Herbert Smith Freehills has hired veteran disputes lawyer Chinnawat Thongpakdee as a partner in its Bangkok office. He joins from Weerawong, Chinnavat & Peangpanor.

Chinnawat, who has 28 years of experience in dispute resolution – including litigation, regulatory matters and international arbitration – will advise local, regional and international corporates who become involved in Thai disputes, and on international arbitrations arising from activities in Thailand or involving Thai parties.

"We are seeing a significant upswing in litigation, international arbitration and other disputes work throughout Southeast Asia,” said Maurice Burke, head of dispute resolution in Southeast Asia, in a statement. “Chinnawat is a senior disputes specialist with a well-established market reputation who will assist the team to target these opportunities, particularly in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam."
