White & Case has added banking specialist Zenya Onishi as a partner in Tokyo from Linklaters, where he was a counsel.

Onishi’s practice focuses on leveraged finance, acquisition finance and cross-border syndicated loan transactions. He represents domestic and international financial institutions and borrowers on lending transactions, governmental bodies on multi-national loans and has experience advising on Japanese financial market regulations.

Onishi spent 15 years at Linklaters, joining the firm in Tokyo in 2004 from Mitsui, Yasuda, Wani & Maeda. During that time, he spent a year at the firm’s London office, and had a secondment stint with a Japanese bank in New York.

The Tokyo office of White & Case recently lost M&A partner Karl Pires to Shearman & Sterling.
