Anglo-German law firm Taylor Wessing has expanded its Dubai office by hiring former Dewey & LeBoeuf partner Tahir Ahmed, and promoting corporate lawyer Ben Constance to its partnership.

Ahmed, who joins Taylor Wessing’s corporate finance group, has more than 14 years of experience working as an international corporate and regulatory lawyer. Prior to his stint at Dewey & LeBoeuf, he held partner positions at both Ashurst and Norton Rose.

Ahmed’s areas of practice include M&A, private equity, fund formations, joint ventures, ECM, DCM, sukuk, private placements, and financial regulatory matters. He has worked on capital markets and M&A transactions in the Middle East, North Africa and the South Asian region, and has received numerous citations and awards for his work.

“The appointment of Tahir Ahmed further strengthens our corporate finance practice,” said Christopher Dixon, managing partner of Taylor Wessing (Middle East), in a statement. “Tahir has an excellent track record of working on large cross border transactions across the Middle East, and possesses strong relationships with some of the region's key players.”

Constance joined the firm as an associate in 2008, and is an expert on capital raisings (both public offerings and private equity), equity capital markets, as well as mergers and acquisitions.

The two new partners take the total number of partners at Taylor Wessing’s Dubai office to seven.
