White & Case has boosted its finance practice in Tokyo with the hire of Of Counsel Tim Jeffares.

Jeffares, who headed Clifford Chance’s Tokyo office from 2004 to 2008, specialises in debt finance, which include syndicated loans, leveraged acquisitions, securitisations, and real estate finance.

“Tim is an accomplished senior finance lawyer,” said John Hartley, head of White & Case’s Asian banking, capital markets and restructuring practice. “He has significant experience working with major Japanese and international institutions which are active in the Japan market.”

Jeffares joins finance partners Paul Harrison and Simon Collins in Tokyo.

White & Case is growing its presence in Asia. In April, the firm hired three capital markets lawyers in Japan, followed by mining practice head John Tivey in June, and Beijing M&A partner Tao Lan in July.
