Baker & McKenzie has hired Ola Nicolai Borge as partner from Grant Thornton Myanmar, where he was the managing partner.
 
Borge has 15 years of experience in international tax as a tax and legal advisor, assisting clients on issues in relation to investments in Southeast Asia. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, he established and managed KPMG’s tax practice in Myanmar.

Baker & McKenzie has also hired U Than Maung as a senior associate from Kelvin Chia Partnership, where he worked for almost 20 years. He specialises in both corporate and intellectual property matters.

The firm’s Yangong team now consists of two partners and 10 other legal staff.

Global law firm Morrison Foerster has announced that private equity veteran Scott Jalowayski will rejoin the firm as a partner in Singapore. Jalowayski most recently co-chaired the global private equity group at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
