South Korean law firm Yoon & Yang has hired Seung-Hwan Park, the CEO of Korean Environment Corporation (KECO), as a partner in Seoul.

The addition of Park bolsters Yoon & Yang’s energy and environment group, as well as the firm’s legislative and government affairs practice, which the firm introduced last year.

Park was appointed the first CEO of KECO following the corporation’s establishment in 2010 through the merger of two affiliated agencies of the Ministry of Environment – the Korea Environment & Resources Corporation and the Environment Management Corporation.

As CEO, Park handled the execution and coordination of environmental policies.

Prior to joining KECO, Park was a partner at APEX LLC from 2008 to 2009, and a partner at Seoul Law Firm from 2006 to 2008. He was also a Grand National Party lawmaker of the National Assembly in South Korea from 2004 to 2008.

“More corporations should take pre-emptive measures to cope with ever-tightening regulations in the domestic environmental area,” said Park in a statement. Based on experiences I acquired at the forefront of environmental administration by the Korean government, I will make every effort to provide our clients with the best legal services.”
