Korean law firm Yulchon has hired competition specialist Cecil Saehoon Chung as a senior foreign counsel. He is the vice chair of the firm’s antitrust practice group and head of the international antitrust team.

While Chung advises on antitrust, consumer protection, trade regulation and litigation issues at Yulchon, he also has experience in intellectual property matters, including patent litigation and licensing issues.

Prior to joining Yulchon, Chung was an antitrust partner at U.S. law firms Pillsbury Winthrop and Greenberg Traurig in Washington DC. Chung was also a litigation attorney in the Bureau of Competition at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, and has advised the Korea Fair Trade Commission on modernising its antitrust and consumer protection enforcement programme.

The arrival of Chung is the latest in a string of partner hires for Yulchon this year; Sung Bom Park and Tae Kwan Lee joined in February, and Young Jae Shin in March. Park and Shin joined the firm from Korean rival Yoon & Yang, while Lee was formerly a prosecutor for 11 years in the anti-corruption division of the Jeju District Prosecutors’ Office.

Park, who is admitted to practice in South Korea and New York, specialises in antitrust issues, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, energy and environment matters. Shin and Lee focus on M&A and litigation, respectively.
