Yulchon has bolstered its intellectual property practice with the appointment of former IP judge Dong Soo Han as a partner in Seoul.

Han joins the firm from the Civil Appellate Court in Suwon, where he was a presiding judge. He has also served as a judge at the Patent Court and at the Supreme Court’s intellectual property division.

During his 16 years in the judiciary, Han has authored opinions and provided legal criteria and tests in several proceedings, including cases related to patent and trademark infringement, requirements for patentability, and method(s) of use inventions for pharmaceuticals.

Han will work closely with Yulchon’s four other partners in the firm’s IP practice, all of whom are former Patent Court judges.
