Ms. Stollar joined Boeing in 2007 as an environmental lawyer in southern California, relocating to Boeing’s Tokyo office in July 2011. Her current role covers a wide range of legal issues affecting Boeing’s business, including the areas of anticorruption, corporate law and governance, contract negotiations, government procurement, investigations, trade controls, immigration, labor and employment, and privacy law. Prior to joining Boeing, Ms. Stollar worked for International Paper Company in Memphis, Tennessee, Foley Hoag LLP in Boston, Massachusetts, and Squire Sanders LLP in Cleveland, Ohio. She has 18 years of experience as an attorney. | |
MITSURU CLAIRE CHINO, Executive Officer General Manager, Legal Division, Itochu Corporation Claire Chino eceived her B.A. (cum laude) from Smith College and her J.D. from Cornell Law School. She was a partner of an international law firm before she joined Itochu Corporation as its corporate counsel. In April 2013, she became the first female executive officer of any major trading company. She has received several recognitions such as a “Young Global Leader” (World Economic Forum), Yale World Fellow (Yale University), Asia 21 Fellow (Asia Society), U.S. Japan Leadership Fellow (U.S.-Japan Foundation), “Top 25 In-House Counsel in Asia” (Asia Legal Business), “Asia Pacific’s Innovative Lawyer” (Financial Times). She is a member of Cornell Law School’s advisory board. Claire is a classically trained singer and strives to be a “singing lawyer.” In December of 2014, Claire will be giving a recital at the Suntory Hall Blue Rose. | |
ROYANNE DOI, Vice President and Corporate Chief Ethics Officer, Global Business Ethics & Integrity, Prudential Financial, Inc. Ms. Doi heads the company’s Global Business Ethics & Integrity Office where she is responsible for the organization’s global business ethics program. Her responsibilities include implementing strategies to drive high ethical standards, educating the workforce and effectively integrating ethics across Prudential's global businesses. Previously, Ms. Doi was chief legal officer at Prudential of Japan (POJ) and international counsel to Prudential Holdings of Japan, Inc. She has been responsible for managing legal risks and reviewing risk assessment matrices for new products and services. In addition, she was instrumental in establishing the corporate secretary team to manage shareholder, board of director and statutory auditor meetings. Prior to joining Prudential in 2009, Ms. Doi held senior legal positions with major financial institutions in Tokyo, including State Street Bank and Trust Company and CIGNA/ACE Insurance. Ms. Doi has an undergraduate degree Washington University and a JD degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. She is a member of the California bar. Ms. Doi is active with several organizations, including the US-Japan Business Council; the Japan In-House Council Network; the Association of Women in Finance in Japan; Japan's Foreign Women Lawyer's Association; the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan; and is currently treasurer of the Japan-United States Education Commission/Fulbright Program. | |

CHIEKO EDA, Head of Japan Office, Johnson Law Department, Johnson & Johnson K.K. Ms. Chieko Eda joined Johnson & Johnson K.K. after having been Of Counsel at law firms in Japan and USA since 1985. On joining Johnson & Johnson Ms. Eda successfully established the Japan Office of the Corporate Law Department and currently manages staff attorneys licensed in Japan and the US. She is a member of the business leadership teams and representative director of Johnson & Johnson K.K. DAVID GILMORE, Partner, Herbert Smith Freehills Tokyo David advises companies on claims arising from fraud and anti-corruption matters, including regulatory investigations and resulting claims. He has advised several leading Japanese clients on anti-bribery and corruption laws. His clients represent a variety of sectors including engineering and heavy industry, insurance, energy and international trade. Having lived in Japan for over a decade, David has been recognised as a leading individual for Dispute Resolution in Japan by Chambers Asia-Pacific over the past five years. DOMINIC ROUGHTON, Partner, Herbert Smith Freehills Tokyo Dominic is a partner in the Tokyo dispute resolution practice with extensive experience in international arbitration, including public international law and international litigation. He is also the firm's global head of public international law. He has acted and advised upon commercials matters in international arbitration and international litigation arising from all major industry sectors, with particular expertise in in energy related disputes. Dominic is thought to be unique in Asia for his experience of international boundary disputes and state to state dispute resolution procedures. Many of Dominic's cases have involved jurisdictional disputes concerning parallel proceedings, both before other arbitral tribunals and in US and other national courts. He has acted in arbitrations under the auspices of the ICC, LCIA, SCC and PCA and before both pure ad hoc and UNCITRAL tribunals. ELAINE WONG, Senior Associate, Herbert Smith Freehills Tokyo Elaine is a senior associate and has experience advising clients on a range of legal issues in relation to anti-corruption, corporate law and governance, investigations, compliance and risk mitigation pursuant to the UK Bribery Act. Elaine is also a certified arbitrator with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is an experienced dispute resolution lawyer specialising in international arbitration and litigation, with particular expertise in the field of construction. Elaine has represented major Japanese companies in complex international arbitration in various jurisdictions. Having also practised for several years in Paris and Singapore, she is fluent in English, French and Mandarin and is licensed to advise on English law and Singapore law in Japan as a Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi. | |
VICKI BEYER, Labor & Employment Counsel, Senior Manager, Accenture Prior to joining Accenture Vicki Beyer was Executive Director in the Legal and Compliance Division of Morgan Stanley for 14 years. She served a variety of roles including regional employment counsel, corporate governance counsel, litigation manager, money laundering prevention officer, compliance training officer and Chief Operating Officer. Admitted to practice law in the State of Washington since 1991, Beyer was a legal academic for 10 years prior to joining Morgan Stanley, including 5½ years in charge of Temple University’s Law School Program in Japan. She currently teaches in Temple's Continuing Education Program and was also a lecturer at Meiji Gakuin University Law School for 4 years. Beyer has published widely on Japanese taxation and corporate law. She is on the Editorial Board of the Revenue Law Journal and participates in the HR Legal Clinic column of the HR Agenda magazine. Beyer is a Vice President of American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, serving on its Board of Governors and as chair of the Business and Finance Advisory Council. She is also active in the Association of Women in Finance and the Foreign Women Lawyers Association and is chair of Morgan Stanley Tokyo Women’s Business Alliance. From 2002 to 2004, Beyer served on the Japanese Ministry of Justice's Internationalization Study Group (“kokusaika kentokai”) which considered issues relating to internationalization of the Japanese legal profession. Beyer received an LL.M. in Corporate and Commercial Law from Bond University (Australia) in 1994 and a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law in 1990. She also holds an M.A. from University of Washington and a B.A. from University of Nebraska at Omaha. In her spare time Beyer enjoys reading, sewing and travelling. She is also a freelance travel writer, with a guidebook to Kamakura and a monthly article in G-Plus Media's Insight Japan magazine. | |
SHIN HONMA, PwC - Forensic Services, PricewaterhouseCoopers Co., Ltd. Shin Honma is a leader in the PwC Japan Forensic Services practice in Tokyo. He is currently on secondment from PwC United States. Shin specializes in investigations, anti-corruption compliance, litigation support, and financial statement analysis. He frequently advises corporate management and its counsel on complex accounting issues, and fraud and corruption related matters. Specifically, Shin has a focus on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and he has experience conducting anti-corruption related investigations and performing merger and acquisition related due diligence. Shin also has assisted numerous companies risk assess, design, and implement anti-corruption compliance programs. He has worked in a variety of industries including, but not limited to, financial services, technology, oil & gas, telecommunications, not-for-profit, and healthcare industries. | |

Edmond Courtroul is a US qualified attorney with over 15 years experience practicing in private equity, corporate, real estate and compliance matters. Prior to joining Galileo, as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, Ed was Senior Legal Counsel for Panasonic and an associate attorney with Weil, Gotshal & Manges law firm. | KAYE NAOKO YOSHINO, Partner, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP A resident partner in the firm’s Tokyo office, Kaye Naoko Yoshino has assisted Japanese and non-Japanese companies in a wide range of matters, from advising on cross-border corporate transactions to providing support in connection with U.S. regulatory and civil litigation matters and internal investigations. Kaye’s experience in representative regulatory and internal investigation matters include representation of: a multi-national company in an international corruption investigation; an executive in a criminal price-fixing investigation; a significant Japanese financial institution in U.S. regulatory proceedings; a pharmaceutical company in an off-label marketing investigation and related whistleblower litigation; and U.S. & Japanese companies in internal investigations involving allegations of violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, price-fixing and other alleged misconduct. TAKAMIKI NISHIKAWA, Senior Legal Counsel, Fox International Japan Takamiki Nishikawa is the Representative Director and Vice President of Fox International Channels (Japan). As Senior Legal Counsel he looks after Fox’s business and legal affairs in Japan and Korea. As a member of the 21st Century Fox media group, which has been under close scrutiny from the regulatory authorities after the News of the World phone hacking scandal and which operates in many high risk areas like Africa, Latin America and Asia, FIC places high importance on compliance. Takamiki works closely with the Chief Compliance Officer of the Fox Group on FCPA and other compliance matters. Previously Takamiki was Deputy General Counsel of Ralph Lauren Asia Pacific with responsibility over Japan and Korea. Prior to in-house counseling, Takamiki was in private practice with Anderson Mori & Tomotsune. he has also been in government employment dealing with multilateral trade at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and was involved in the ACTA negotiations and the IP chapters of various FTA agreements, as well as the NAMA negotiations. He was educated at Eton College and Tokyo University (Law). | |
LEE D. AUGSBURGER, Senior Vice President, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, Prudential Financial, Inc. Lee Augsburger is responsible for overseeing the company’s global compliance organization of more than 500 staff worldwide and the company’s global business ethics efforts. He joined Prudential in 1997 in the Law Department and has served in a variety of leadership positions, including chief legal officer for the Annuities business; and vice president, Compliance, in the Investment division, where he was responsible for managing compliance programs for the retirement services, institutional brokerage, and asset management businesses and mutual funds. He transferred to the Compliance Department in 2000 and was appointed global chief compliance officer in 2007 and global chief ethics officer in 2009. Previously, Augsburger was employed with PriceWaterhouse, as a director in Regulatory Consulting Practice; Van Kampen Merrit; Bell, Boyd & Lloyd with the law firm; and Smith Barney where he was deputy general counsel for its mutual fund organization. Augsburger has an undergraduate degree in communications from Wheaton College and a JD from IIT/Chicago Kent College of Law. He is adjunct faculty at New York Law School, developing and teaching Compliance for Global Financial Services Companies for its financial services LLM program. He is a member of the bar of Illinois and various industry organisations including the Board of Advisors for the Institute for Ethical Leadership at Rutgers University. Augsburger also serves as Board Chair for the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association and is former Chair of the Board of National Society of Compliance Professionals. The Ethisphere Institute named Augsburger to its 2013 List of the 100 Most Influential in Business Ethics. | |
ANDREW SAVAGE, Senior Manager, Geographic Support Legal Lead for Japan and South Korea., Accenture Japan Ltd Andrew is a senior manager with Accenture based in Accenture’s Tokyo office with responsibility for Accenture’s Japanese and Korean operations. Andrew is part of the CORE Legal team in Accenture, which comprises Compliance, Offerings, Regulatory and Ethics. His current work with Accenture is focused on ethics and compliance. Prior to joining Accenture, Andrew was legal counsel for UPS, first in Tokyo and later covering North Asia based out of Hong Kong. In addition to his legal counsel responsibilities, Andrew also took on the dual role of APAC Compliance Officer for UPS. Before joining UPS, Andrew worked as in-house legal counsel for Nikon, as well as in private practice in Tokyo and Brisbane, Australia. Andrew graduated from Griffith University in Queensland, Australia in 2000 with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts in Asian and International Studies. He is admitted to the Supreme Courts of Queensland and New South Wales.

MAIJA BURTMANIS LLB/BSc LLM, Regional Compliance Director, AbbVie JAPAC Maija is an Australian qualified lawyer (LLB/BSc, LLM) and has worked in the Life Sciences sector for the last 12 years in a dual Legal / Compliance role (previously with Pfizer and then Novartis). In her current capacity, she holds the position of Regional Compliance Office for AbbVie Japan / Asia Pacific and is based in Singapore. In her early years, Maija worked as a solicitor for several years at Clayton Utz and Allen Allen & Hemsley, focusing on large-scale product liability and medical negligence litigation in Australia. Aside from the rapidly evolving area of “Life Science Compliance”, Maija’s interests include Hot Yoga, Entertaining and chasing after her 2 children and husband on the weekends |
