Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is representing Japanese cargo company Nippon Express Holdings on its planned 100-billion-yen ($743 million) purchase of a majority stake in Austrian logistics company Cargo-Partner, which is being counseled by Schoenherr Attorneys.

With this acquisition, Nippon Express hopes to tap into Cargo-Partner’s customer base, reported Nikkei Asia, adding that the Austrian cargo company is strong in Europe, the U.S. and Asia and is expected to help Nippon Express to become more competitive in international logistics.

The Freshfields team includes partners Konrad Gröller, Jochen Ellrott, Tomoko Nakajima, Takeshi Nakao, Florian Klimscha, Karin Buzanich-Sommeregger, Catherine Kubik, and Kaori Yamada.
