It’s no secret that law firms in Hong Kong are moving to keep pace with the increase in activity in the region and Goodwin Procter is no exception. It has added Lorraine Lau, a corporate finance partner formerly at Mayer Brown, to its business law department. Lau will work closely with the firm’s corporate practice in the US to grow the firm’s presence and expand its client base in Asia.

“The Asian markets continue to be an area we have targeted for investment,” said Regina Pisa, chairman and managing partner at Goodwin Procter. As a resident of Hong Kong, Lau will provide the firm’s clients with advice on various aspects of Hong Kong law and her addition enables Goodwin Procter to provide this important service. Her expertise in corporate finance, capital markets and securities transactions also complements the firm’s expertise in the US, said Pisa.

Lau speaks fluent Cantonese, Mandarin and English and advises international corporations and those in the PRC, as well as top-tier investment banks throughout Southeast Asia, with a focus on Hong Kong and the PRC. Her practice includes advising on all aspects of corporate law, including M&A, capital markets, IPOs, private equity and foreign direct investments, Sino-foreign joint ventures, debt restructurings and workouts, as well as takeovers and privatisations.
