In its efforts to broaden the legacy of its In-House Legal Summit series in the region, Asian Legal Business (ALB), in partnership with AKSET, the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), HPRP Lawyers, Soemadipradja & Taher, Biro Oktroi Roosseno, and Budiarto Law Partnership is proud to present the first Indonesia In-House Legal Summit scheduled for May 7, 2014 in Jakarta. Featuring Indonesia’s legal industry leaders from government bodies, private practice, law organisations, and leading corporations, the Summit aims to provide delegates with the know-how and tools to address key issues in compliance, ethics and corporate responsibility, and investment.

The summit will engage representatives from various industries in discussing the challenges and key strategies to combat pressing regulatory concerns, especially with the drafting of Indonesia’s new trade and industry laws and the institutionalisation of the Consumer Protection Law in the finance sector on the anvil.

The summit will commence with AKSET, the country’s leading law firm promoting inward investment to Indonesia, facilitating a discussion on various market entry approaches, the restrictions under the new Negative Investment List, divestment and nationalisation issues, and conflicting central and local regulatory structures.

Following AKSET’s session on investment, sharia law expert INCEIF will examine the role of ethics and corporate responsibility in driving growth in the Islamic finance industry. The perceptions of customers and managers towards ethics and corporate responsibility in Islamic finance will be explored, and the key factors reinforcing the gap between ethics and conventional finance will be defined.

The conference shall then continue with interactive panel discussions engaging a representative from Soemadipradja & Taher, along with Indonesia’s top corporate counsel to initiate a dialogue with delegates on crucial matters of compliance, anti-corruption, and career development in the legal field.

Covering the most pressing topics affecting Indonesia’s legal community the conference is a great opportunity to come and experience a day of focused, stimulating, and information-packed sessions.
