Offshore law firm Bedell Cristin has opened in Singapore, its first office in Asia, to provide British Virgin Islands (BVI) legal services.

The office will be headed by Stephen Adams, who until late last year was a principal at BVI firm Barker Adams. Adams has more than 15 years of experience in corporate, banking, funds, and investment funds work, having worked extensively in BVI, Hong Kong, and Canada.

In Singapore, Bedell Cristin is expected to provide services including corporate finance work, joint ventures, listings, banking, capital markets, IPOs, and sale and purchase transactions.

“The opening of the office in Singapore is a logical move designed to augment our global reach and range of high quality legal services to our international client base, particularly those in the Asian region,” said Richard Gerwat, managing partner at Bedell, the parent company of Bedell Cristin, in a statement.

Bedell, which combines Bedell Cristin and an independent trust company, has offices in Jersey, Guernsey, London, Dublin, Geneva, Mauritius, and BVI, apart from Singapore.
