Canadian law firm Bennett Jones has hired former Taylor Wessing partner Osama Hassan as senior partner at its Dubai office, bolstering its corporate practice in the United Arab Emirates as a result.

Hassan, who has 25 years of legal experience in the UAE, will advise on commercial arrangements, corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, and disposals and investments. He has also been a regular commentator on drafts of new laws by the Dubai government and UAE federal government.

“We have been assembling a group of senior advisors with considerable experience – both locally and internationally,” said Timothy Ross, managing partner of the firm’s Dubai office. “Osama could hardly be a better fit.”

Bennett Jones, with offices throughout Canada and a representative office in Beijing, has been steadily expanding in the emirates. The firm opened a second office in Abu Dhabi last April as part of this expansion. ALB
