International law firm Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle has opened its doors in Kuwait in association with local firm Mashora Advocates and Legal Consultants, as it seeks to expand in the region.

The firm’s Kuwait office will be headed by former SNR Denton managing partner David Pfeiffer, who left the latter’s Kuwait practice in October 2011. Pfeiffer, who has joined as a partner, has been based in Kuwait since 1996, and is an expert in local and international commercial law.

“This move is another important part of our strategic growth in the Middle East, where we have already established a strong presence in Oman and Dubai over the past few years,” said George Kahale, chairman of Curtis.

Mashora Advocates is managed by Kuwaiti national Abdulrahman Al Humaidan. The firm covers a wide swath of practice areas including corporate and commercial law, litigation, real estate and finance.

Curtis is the third international law firm to expand into Kuwait. DLA Piper and SNR Denton also have a presence in the country. ALB
