Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, India’s largest law firm by headcount, has set up a legaltech incubator called Prarambh, believed to be the country’s first.

The incubator will target young entrepreneurs to come up with new technology-based solutions for the legal industry including areas related to access to justice, dispute resolution, transaction efficiencies,   law firm operations, legal research, compliance, contract management and managing legal talent among others.

Initially, Prarambh will be housed at CAM’s New Delhi office and will later be extended to other locations. It will be led by Komal Gupta, head of Artificial Intelligence & Innovation at the firm, who will be guided by Cyril Shroff, CAM’s managing partner.

Prarambh is expected to help technology start-ups developing products and services for the legal industry. As a part of the programme, three to four high-potential startups will be selected for support from Prarambh. The incubator will also be guided by a board of mentors assembled by CAM.

Applications for the Prarambh programme will be open from Apr. 8 to 30 this year. The selected startups will move into the firm’s premises in August 2019.
