Less than a year ago, Drew & Napier director Cavinder Bull SC was appointed to the SIAC board of directors as its deputy chairman. He will now also serve as vice-president of the Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group (APRAG) to promote international arbitration in the region.
At its General Meeting in Kuala Lumpur on 8th July 2011, APRAG increased its number of vice-presidents to a maximum of 12 to better reflect and represent the growing number of APRAG members. A decision was also made to include past presidents of APRAG as part of the APRAG Committee.
Sundra Rajoo, director of the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA) was also appointed president of APRAG at that July meeting. The KLRCA was consequently selected as APRAG’s Secretariat for the period of 2011-2013.
Established in 2004, APRAG is a regional federation of arbitration associations which aims to improve standards and knowledge of international arbitration. It also represents the APAC region in submissions to national and international organisations. It comprises members from approximately 30 arbitration centres and associations.ALB
