The former general counsel of Origin Energy is seeking to fill short term needs of in-house teams as a sole practitioner.
Suzanne 'Suzy' Reintals was senior counsel at Origin for nearly 10 years and has been a corporate lawyer for more than 20 years. Having successfully passed over the reins at Origin in 2009, she has now launched her own step-in step-out service.
Reintals said she chose this option as opposed to joining a firm or another company because having her own business was something she had always thought about. “Had I not tried to do this now, I think in years to come I would say why didn’t I give it a go?” she told ALB.
As a sole practitioner Reintals will be available for short to medium term periods to assist in-house legal departments, whether it’s to fill in for a general counsel leave or to assist a general counsel with a particular project or piece of work that has arisen. “I understand the ways and means of a company,” said Reintals. “I appreciate the demands and the needs of reporting to audit committees and reporting to a board. I understand how the in-house process works at a very senior level.”
