Senior partner in Clyde & Co's global aviation group, Jim Edmunds, has left the firm – taking senior Clyde associate Anthony Frances with him – to help launch UK aviation specialist firm Gate and Partners in Dubai.

Edmunds, who transferred from Clyde & Co's London office to Dubai in May 2007, will return to the UK, to be based in Gates & Partner’s London office while Frances will remain and be charged with launching the firm’s Dubai operations on the ground.

Edmunds joined Clyde & Co in early 2005 as part of the firm's merger with the world's leading aviation firm, Beaumont & Son where he was managing partner from 1990 - 2002. His primary areas of expertise include banking, leasing, and project and asset finance, with particular emphasis on the aviation sector - including aircraft acquisition and disposal and the start up and running of airlines.

The firm’s Dubai office launch is still undergoing regulatory process but expects to launch by the end of next month.

The firm also recently added offices in Brussels and Paris, in addition to an office in Singapore which services the Asia-Pacific region.ALB
