International law firm Herbert Smith has promoted ten lawyers to partnership globally, with one promotion in the corporate and energy based practice at its Doha office.

Former senior associate Joanna Addison has been named partner in the company’s Doha office. Herbert Smith has recently been appointed to three of Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company's legal panels, covering legal services for its infrastructure/construction, property finance and United Kingdom projects.

The majority of the firm’s promotions were based in London and came principally from its corporate and dispute resolution practices.

“This year's promotions reflect the deep bench of talent across our international network. They have joined the partnership at an exciting period in the firm's development and I know each will play their full part in helping to ensure our distinctive practice balance remains a draw-card for clients across both developed and emerging markets,” said senior partner Jonathan Scott.

Separately, the firm named eight lawyers of counsel/senior consultants in its London, Paris, Madrid, Moscow and Hong Kong offices.

The promotions come as a new chief operating officer  joins the firm, replacing John Mullins upon his retirement. David Robinson joined the firm in November 2011 as COO Designate where he worked alongside Mullins during an extended handover period. He will move into his new role as of May 1 and is based out of London, Herbert Smith said in a statement.
