ALB is proud to announce its continued partnership with The Macallan, which will yet again sponsor the annual ALB Hong Kong Law Awards on Sept. 9. This marks the 13th straight year that The Macallan is sponsoring the Hong Kong legal industry’s most prestigious annual event.

William Chan, managing director at Erdington stated: “We are very pleased to see the continuous partnership between The Macallan brand and the ALB Hong Kong Law Awards. This year is the thirteenth year of sponsorship for arguably the most celebrated event, the ‘Oscars’ among legal professionals.”

On the opportunity the evening will present its attendees to unwind, Chan continued: “Work-life balance is about individuals being able to achieve their own optimum arrangement between personal and career objectives, while continuing to satisfy business needs. Work-life balance is about both empowering employees with control and choice over their working lives, and helping the business to operate more efficiently. Whereas previously it was believed that work-life balance initiatives would have a negative impact on the workplace, it is now accepted that there can be many tangible benefits for business that choose to adopt them.”

At this year’s awards, Baker & McKenzie boasts the largest number of nominations with 18, including Deal Firm of the Year and Investment Funds Law Firm of the Year. Other standout contenders include Mayer Brown JSM with 13 nominations, and Deacons, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Herbert Smith Freehills, and King & Wood Mallesons with 12 apiece.

The in-house teams of CK Hutchison and COSCO Pacific each have four nominations – more than any other in that space, though newcomers such as Hong Kong Jockey Club, Microsoft and Walmart provide stiff competition.

Though winning awards at the black-tie ceremony is obviously high on everyone’s agenda, Chan hopes that guests can heed his advice to “relax and enjoy the evening”.
