Restructuring and insolvency specialist Bertie Mehigan has left local Hong Kong firm Howse Williams Bowers, where he was a registered foreign lawyer for a year, to set up his own firm, Mehigan LLP.
He also brought two HWB colleagues with him: registered foreign lawyer Darinne Ko and legal assistant Anthony Wijaya, according to their LinkedIn profiles. Edwin Chua, an associate from Singaporean firm Dentons Rodyk, is also joining the new firm.
The new firm will focus on restructuring and insolvency, and “helping clients navigate emerging markets situations and transactions,” according to its website.
Before Mehigan’s brief stint at HWB, he led a team of restructuring and insolvency lawyers at Ashurst, which HWB hired in September 2016. Prior to that, he was a partner at O'Melveny & Myers and White & Case.
