Joe Ganim, one of the founders of Brisbane law firm HopgoodGanim, has announced his retirement from partnership at the firm. Ganim will have his last day as a full-time partner on 31 December 2009 before taking some time to spend with family and serving the firm as a consultant.

Ganim founded HopgoodGanim in 1974 with Paul Hopgood, who currently heads the firm’s Family Law practice. Together they were able to build the firm from just the two partners to one that now has 24 partners and 200 staff. He has built a strong legacy of business ethics and mateship, and a steadfast commitment to service within the firm.

“As Ganim is one of Brisbane’s leading litigators and has had hands-on corporate experience as a director of a number of public companies during his career, we are delighted that he is staying on as an active consultant to the firm,” said managing partner Bruce Humphreys. “His expertise and experience is invaluable, and he will continue to advise clients of the firm on litigation and business matters as needed.”

Ganim has been involved in the legal industry for almost four decades conducting corporate and commercial litigation in the Supreme Court of Queensland, the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia. He also served for a number of years as a member of the Administration and Resource Division of the Litigation Reform Commission, which reviewed all aspects of court practice and litigation.
