Kobre & Kim has opened an office in Seoul, South Korea focusing exclusively on disputes and investigations. It will be led by the firm’s partner and co-founder Michael S. Kim.

The initial team will also include U.S.-qualified lawyer Robin Baik and financial analyst Jean Kim. They will be supported by more than a dozen lawyers in other offices working primarily on Korea-related disputes and investigations.

“In Korea, we are offering two products not available in the current market: a Seoul-based Korean fluent team focusing on U.S. government investigations, as well as Hong Kong and offshore litigation capabilities,” said Kim in a s statement.

The firm says that its U.S. government enforcement practice, which is very active in Korea-related cases, is led by more than ten former U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission lawyers. It also handles litigation relating to Korean companies in London, Hong Kong, the Cayman Islands, and the British Virgin Islands, with teams located in offices in each of these jurisdictions.
