Brisbane and Sydney based Hynes Lawyers has announced a major shift of direction in a move which will also see three of the existing Hynes partners move to other firms.

Founder Rob Hynes today thanked the three departing partners for their contribution to the firm: Warren Jiear, Bill Singleton and Warwick Walsh who will be moving to Piper Alderman, HWL Ebsworth and McCullough Robertson respectively. Hynes announced that his firm would be rebranded as Hynes Legal from 20 May and will  adopt a new model which will concentrate on specialised and cost effective legal services.

Hynes Legal will provide both traditional legal services and commoditised legal products on a fixed fee basis. Specialist areas will include property, IP and energy/ resources. The new firm will also seek to minimise overheads by using cloud computing and backend support based in the Philippines.

The firm will offer  “off-the-shelf”  legal products such as legal forms and templates for high-volume, repeated transactions  which can also be tailor-made to an individual client’s needs. “The future of legal services in my view is a specialised core services staff, who are technological and flexible, who are able to work from home, remotely or overseas,” said Hynes."The new firm’s systems are based in the cloud and the new workplace will promote a relaxed and flexible approach to the provision of legal services.”

Hynes Legal will operate from new premises in Fortitude Valley which were described as “open and contemporary.”

“The traditional suit and tie code will be replaced with a more flexible and relaxed approach,” said Hynes. “We have abandoned the lavish high-cost overheads such as art-gallery style office spaces that end up being passed on to clients through escalating fees."
