Boutique Brisbane-based law firm McMahon Clarke Legal has dropped its wills and estates practice area, resulting in two redundancies.

Managing partner Sean McMahon said the firm had made the strategic decision to no longer pursue the wills and estates area, “because our efforts are better directed to other areas of the practice”. However, he added that the fact that the firm was not were not pursuing wills and estates did not mean it was an unprofitable area.

The firm, which has approximately 18 lawyers including six partners, will instead focus on other practice areas such as, corporate, funds management, property, private client and business succession, and litigation and risk management, which McMahon said provided a “better return on investment”.
