Boutique New Zealand technology and IP law firm Hudson Gavin Martin has added a new partner after three strong years of growth.

The firm, which was launched in late 2007 by former Bell Gully and Russell McVeagh partners Wayne Hudson, Simon Martin and Mark Gavin, has promoted Jason Rudkin-Binks to the partnership. “We started with three partners and four solicitors in 2007; since then we have more than doubled our solicitor numbers and added a new partner,” said Martin.

Martin added that boutique firms were becoming an increasingly prominent segment of the NZ market in recent years, with several new players entering the market. “There are more boutique firms appearing and there is awareness by clients that they can see quality work coming out boutique firms,” he said.

Like Gavin, Rudkin-Binks was also at Russell McVeagh prior to joining Hudson Gavin Martin as a solicitor in 2007. In his new role Rudkin-Binks will focus on further expanding the firm’s technology and IP client base with a particular focus on technology based companies, both large and small, wishing to commercialise their innovations. During  his career Rudkin-Binks has also held in-house and private practice roles in the UK and has worked in the FMCG, technology and pharmaceutical sectors.
