Kensington Swan’s partnership could grow to up to 40 partners in the next couple of years, chairman Clayton Kimpton has revealed. The firm currently has 32 partners and hopes to make five hires this year, assuming revenue growth continues its present trajectory.

Corporate, property and environment specialists are particularly high on the hit list. “That reflects the growth in our client base in those areas and reflects where we see the market as heading, particularly in the infrastructure space where we have a strong capability,” said Kimpton. “ It’s growing fast and we want to make sure we’re populating that with partners.”

According to figures collected by ALB in May,  the largest law firm partnership in New Zealand is Chapman Tripp  with 51 partners, while rivals range from 39 partners (Russell McVeagh) to 47 (Bell Gully), with significant variations in leverage.

Issue 9.6 of ALB magazine will feature an extended interview with Clayton Kimpton as part of the ALB Managing Partner series.
