Shortly after being becoming one of the few foreign firms in Bangladesh, DFDL has expanded into yet another barely touched market with the launch of its Bhutan practice, which will focus significantly on hydropower work.
DFDL’s Bhutan Group is co-headed by Audray Souche, the Ho Chi Minh City-based head of the firm's clean energy division, and Bangkok-based M&A lawyer Nick Towle. Towle and Souche will initially visit clients in Bhutan on a regular basis, with the firm not ruling out opening an office in that country in the future.
“DFDL’s prioritising of Bhutan, through the creation of a dedicated regional group and assigning two advisers who are developmental specialists, maintains our commitment for being pioneers in frontier markets and shows our core values of developing Asia,” said L-Martin Desautels, DFDL’s regional managing partner, in a statement.
Apart from Bangladesh, DFDL currently has a presence in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
