Qatar’s English-language common law court, the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC), has named Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers as its new president. Phillips will be replacing founder and previous president of QICDRC, Lord Woolf , upon the latter’s retirement.

Lord Phillips will take over the position in September, the QICDRC said in a statement.  He currently serves as president of the Supreme Court of the UK. In 2005, he was appointed as Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales.

“I am delighted to have been appointed president of the QICDRC by the Council of Ministers, and I look forward to contributing towards the continuing development and success of the QICDRC both in Qatar and overseas when I assume my new position in September,” he said. ALB
