Singapore law firm RHT Law, Taylor Wessing’s strategic alliance firm in the country, will join the UK firm’s international network on Mar. 16. The new firm will be known as RHT Law Taylor Wessing.
RHT Law, which currently has more than 60 fee earners, had earlier entered into an exclusive cooperation agreement with Taylor Wessing in August 2011.
Founded in May 2011 after more than 100 staff (including 24 partners) left Singaporean law firm KhattarWong, RHT Law’s managing partner is Tan Chong Huat, who was earlier the managing partner of KhattarWong.
The firm says that the move will give RHT Law Taylor Wessing’s clients access to a network of over 800 lawyers across 14 offices in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. This is in line with the firm’s strategy of delivering international capabilities locally, having the added advantage of industry specific expertise catered to each client’s business needs.
"Our cooperation of the past six months has clearly established that joining Taylor Wessing will further internationalise our business and maximise the opportunities in this dynamic region,” said Subhas Anandan, senior partner and supervisory council member of RHT Law, in a statement. “ We are delighted to join Taylor Wessing and together we look forward to driving our further growth in the coming years."
Taylor Wessing was formed in 2002 following a merger between UK law firm Taylor Joynson Garrett and German law firm Wessing. ALB
