Simmons & Simmons is set to open an office in Singapore, after receiving a licence from the Attorney General’s Chambers in the city-state.
The Singapore office will be the firm’s fifth outpost in Asia after Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo. Simmons & Simmons will share office space with TMI Associates, its alliance firm in Japan.
The office initially will have four partners – corporate specialist Dan Marjanovic, who joins from Norton Rose in Sydney; TMT expert Alexander Shepherd, who is relocating from Dubai, banking and finance partner Jason Valoti, who is moving from Hong Kong; and projects specialist Peter Wright, who is relocating from London.
“We are expanding our Asia practice in response to the demands of both our international clients and Asia-domiciled clients across the region, and in particular, their requirements around the increasing levels of intra-regional investment and trade activity,” said Simmons & Simmons’ managing partner, Jeremy Hoyland, in a statement. “Our focus will be on the cross-border transactional and disputes needs of clients in the asset management, energy and infrastructure, financial institutions, life sciences and TMT sectors.”
The firm opened an office in Munich in March this year.
