International law firm Taylor Wessing has entered the growing central and eastern European market through a merger with Austrian law firm e|n|w|c, as part of its strategy for international expansion.

The merger provides Taylor Wessing with eight offices across six new jurisdictions in Budapest, Prague, Brno, Bratislava, Warsaw, Kiev, Klagenfurt and Vienna. The tie-up between the firms also takes its fee-earning headcount to almost 900 across 22 offices in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, said Christopher Dixon, managing partner of Taylor Wessing’s Dubai office, in a statement.

“I welcome the increased opportunities which this merger will bring to Taylor Wessing in the Middle East, and feel sure that those of our clients who are interested in Central and South Eastern Europe will appreciate the seamless service that we will be able to offer in both regions for cross border transactions,” he said.

The CEE offices formally became part of the firm on May 4, and will operate as Taylor Wessing e|n|w|c Attorneys at Law. ENWC’s managing partner Raimund Cancola has joined the firm’s management board. ALB
