Lawyers from Davis Polk’s Tokyo, Hong Kong and London offices worked with local Vietnamese counsel YKVN to complete a notes offering by the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. “We work well with YKVN as local counsel and have a good relationship with them,” said Eugene Gregor, partner at Davis Polk. “All the advisors worked smoothly together to complete this transaction.”

Davis Polk has also previously worked with the managers on this transaction. “We frequently represent the various managers of [this deal] and hope to be selected by them to work on similar matters in the future,” said Gregor.

This deal was a particularly important for Vietnam. “It sets a sovereign benchmark for future financings by other Vietnamese issuers,” he said.
