International law firm K&L Gates has named former Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer counsel Omar Momany as partner in its corporate practice, based out of Dubai.
Momany’s practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, corporate governance, arbitration, and joint ventures both in the UAE and the wider Middle East region. While at Freshfields, Momany headed the firm’s UAE practice. As a fluent Arabic speaker, he has also counseled on the drafting of legislation concerning the establishment of free zones, competition and antitrust, e-commerce, transportation, and traffic in the Gulf.
“Omar’s arrival at K&L Gates deepens our UAE law capability, and represents a further boost for our regional corporate practice,” said Neal Brendel, a founding partner of K&L Gates’ Dubai office.
Momany’s appointment follows the recent hire of Natalie Boyd, a former Simmons & Simmons finance partner. With the recent hirings, K&L Gates now has four partners across its Dubai and Doha offices.
