Shearman & Sterling and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas have advised Indian renewables company Greenko on its $500 million seven-year bond, India’s first high-yield green bond issuance. Bedell Cristin acted as Mauritius counsel.

Greenko Group is one of the largest clean energy independent power producers in India, with more than 1GW of projects across hydro, wind and thermal energy. 

Ashurst and Indian law firm Talwar Thakore & Associates represented the joint bookrunners and joint lead managers of the offering, including Deutsche Bank, Investec, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley and UBS. Mayer Brown JSM represented the Bank of New York Mellon, which acted as the trustee on the transaction.

The Shearman & Sterling team working on the deal was led by partner Andrew Schleider.
