Shearman & Sterling has appointed Max Hua as a partner in its capital markets practice in Hong Kong from PRC firm Haiwen & Partners.

Hua advises on corporate finance transactions, including Hong Kong listings and M&A. Prior to joining Haiwen, he was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.

Hua’s departure from Haiwen comes shortly after the PRC firm lost another capital markets partner - Guiping Lu – in Hong Kong to another U.S. firm - K&L Gates. The Chinese firm also hired partner Philip Chan recently.
