The eighth edition of the ALB Korea Law Awards, a virtual event held on Nov. 12, honoured the who’s who of the country’s legal industry, including in-house counsel, law firms and private practice lawyers.

Kim & Chang picked up six awards on the night, which included the Korea Law Firm of the Year, Young Lawyer of the Year (Law Firm) (for Byung Min Choi) and Korea Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year.

Lee & Co. claimed five awards including the Woman Lawyer of the Year (for Hyunjoo Oh) and the Litigation Law Firm of the Year, while Bae, Kim & Lee won four titles, including Managing Partner of the Year (for Sungjin Kim) and the International Arbitration Law Firm of the Year.

Meanwhile, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton was the winner of the International Deal Firm of the Year and Technology, Media and Telecommunications Deal of the Year. Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner was named the International Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year and D'LIGHT Law claimed the Boutique Law Firm of the Year title.

In the individual categories, Shin & Kim’s Jae Young Chang and Helen Hyunju Pak were named the Dealmaker of the Year and Foreign Lawyer of the Year respectively, while Kevin Kim of Peter & Kim won the Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year award.

In the in-house categories, LG Chem was named the Korea In-House Team of the Year while Samsung SDS claimed the Innovative In-House Team of the Year and Technology, Media and Telecommunications In-House Team of the Year. The In-House Lawyer of the Year title went to Coupang’s Jay Jorgensen, while Eunhwa Jo of Kakao M was the named the Young Lawyer of the Year.
