Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has hired M&A lawyer Jon Bowden as a partner in Singapore from the U.S. law firm White & Case.

With 18 years of experience, Bowden advises financial sponsors, including private equity firms, corporates and financial institutions in the sectors such as financial, oil and gas, fast-moving consumer goods, and technology, media and telecommunications on cross-border M&A, joint ventures and corporate finance.

His notable work includes advising Thailand’s Bangkok Bank on its $2.3 billion acquisition of an 89 percent stake in Indonesia’s PT Bank Permata from Standard Chartered Bank and PT Astra International.

Bowden joined White & Case in 2015 after working for Linklaters for more than 10 years. His arrival at Freshfields has taken the number of partners in that firm’s Singapore office to 10.

U.S. law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has advised Mexico-based multinational building materials company Cemex on the sale of its operations and assets in the Philippines to Dacon Corporation, DMCI Holdings, and Seminara Mining and Power Corporation.
